From now until October 15th, 8 PM CDT (check for your time zone) we will be adding to the pool of items that you can request from during sign ups! :) While you will not be disqualified from doing the exchange if you don't do this part, it may be important to add something if you really want to see a character, relationship, or worldbuilding element (hereon known as Wish Items) and don't see it already listed. :)
Keep an eye on the List of Approved Tags! If something's already on there, you are not required to add that item again. You're only allowed 20 slots per fandom, so use them wisely!
There's a trading post in the Dreamwidth community (Anonymous comments are welcome) where you can drop off any Wish Items that you'd like for others to claim, or you can go in and pick up Wish Items that others have left and nominate them. Or, you can do the same in the Forum thread! This way, everyone can have their nominations in the pool! :)

Below is a visual guide to the nominations process. Don't forget to also go over the Rules and the FAQ if you haven't already! :)
First, click on the button "Nominate" on the upper right corner of the screen above the tagset.
You will see a page with "Fandom 1" and twenty "Character" fields and a "Fandom 2" with another twenty "Character" fields.
For Fandom 1, choose the first fandom you will be nominating. In our example, I will be using the fandom Stand Still Stay Silent. Once you type in your fandom, hit enter or pick from the drop-down suggestion.
Now we begin selecting our Wish Items, which will be Characters, Relationships (Platonic and Romantic both accepted), and Worldbuilding.
NOTE: AO3 may give you suggestions as you type in your nominations, like the following scenario:
Please ignore the option from the drop-down box! It will erase the Character/Relationship/Worldbuilding designation of the Wish Item, and we need that in our tagset! :) Instead of clicking on the suggestion, just hit enter and move to your next item nomination.
Nominating Characters:
Nominate Canon Characters by their full name:
Nominate Original Characters by their role. This applies to Perssssonas and any character with no canon name, such as background characters or 'textual ghosts' (characters who must exist but do not have canon names, such as Árni Reynisson's wife.)
Examples:
Nominating Relationships:
* NOTE: If you wish to nominate a character who *does not* have a surname (such as Agenta, Helmi, Stine, etc), then place them first.
If you wish to nominate...
...Platonic/non-romantic relationships: nominate them in alphabetical order by their surname:
...Shippy/romantic relationships: nominate them in alphabetical order by their surname:
...Canon Character/Original Character: nominate them by placing the Original Character last. The same rule applies for Canon Character & Original Character:
...Multiple Characters in a Relationship: Keep them in alphabetical order by surname, and place any original characters last:
If multiple characters have the same surname, alphabetize them by their first name:
Nominating Worldbuilding:
Nominate worldbuilding elements in this style:
Note: Worldbuilding nominations can be creatures, places, items, etc: anything that is not covered under Characters or Relationships.
After you are done, scroll down and click on submit in the lower right corner:
The resulting page will show all of your nominations:
The "?!" means they are awaiting approval. After some time (may take hours, depending on my availability), you will know when they've been approved. When you see a green check mark, it means I have approved your nomination. In case you see a red cross, do not panic! Most likely, I have fixed a typo but had to "reject" your initial nomination and had to redo it as a new nomination from my screen. Don't forget to check out the List of Approved Tags, or skim through the tagset itself! :) Your nomination should be on there! I will not be rejecting any nominations, but I will be trying to keep everything flowing in a neat order! :)
Afterwards you can always go back to this screen. When you go to the tagset, click on the "My Nominations" link in the upper right corner to view your nominations list again:
If you wish to make changes, click on the "edit" button on the upper right corner:

- Some things to keep in mind:
- You may continue to edit or change your nomination items until they are approved. After your items are approved, you cannot delete them, but you can add new items into the pool.
- If you see an item you want already on the List of Approved Tags or in the tagset, then you do not need to nominate them again. You can use those slots for something else! :)
- You will not be disqualified from the exchange if you do not do this part! Nominations are all anonymous and voluntary! However, if there is something that you really wish to request during sign-ups and you do not see it in the tagset, then you will need to make sure it is nominated.
- You do not need to fill all 20 slots and you do not need to nominate for both fandoms. Also, you do not have to put all of your nominations in at once. You can keep adding in more items as you think of them! You have until the 15th 8PM CDT to get everything in.
- If you are uncertain about how to nominate, are still waiting on an AO3 invite, or have more than 20 items that you wish to nominate, then head over to the trading post or reply to the thread. Someone will nominate them for you!
- Likewise, if you would like to help a fellow fan, you can pick up nomination items from the trading post or from the thread! Make sure to leave a note that you have pick up extra nomination items!
